International Music Festival "Saint Petersburg Palaces"

The international music festival “Saint Petersburg Palaces” was initiated in 1990s and has already become one of the leading city music festivals hosted by the most beautiful historic sights and stages of the Northern Capital, palaces and theaters, open-air scenes.

The art director and the head of the festival is Maria Safariants, famous St. Petersburg violinist, honored artist of Russian Federation. Being a very talented and professional musician she is also a very ambitious and hard-working person. That helped her to pull the festival up to the top level events in a very short term.

Thanks to Maria and her team the festival also became a true discovery project. A lot of lost and forgotten music masterpieces were taken out from oblivion and presented to music lovers to let them keep on wondering and enjoying the constantly refreshed concert program. Another initiative of the festival is to lighten up new stage stars yet unfamiliar to the public that become well-recognized after participation in the festival concerts.

Maria Safariants feels it her duty to cultivate love for classical music heritage: «Classics should predominate here in St.Petersburg. Besides, for dwellers and guests of our city this beautiful festive occasion is a rare opportunity of listening to the ever-living music performed by great masters».

During the years of the Festival, various famous artists have performed within this projects. List of the great artists - participants of the Festival - includes world opera stars, such as Renee Fleming, Dmitry Hvorostovsky, Nikolai Gedda, Irina Arkhipova, Elena Obraztsova, Anna Netrebko, Ewa Podles, Sondra Radwanovsky, Luciana D'Intino, pianist Krzysztof Jablonski, cellist Alexander Rudin, clarinetist Giampiero Sobrino, prominent conductors Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Salius Sondeckis and many others.

Currently more than 100 imperial palaces and more than 80 museums of St.Petersburg keep the history of their former owners - patrons of the arts, and carry on with educational traditions of the Northern capital.

Among those places that host Festival there are: Hermitage theatre, Konstantinovsky Palace, Great Peterhof Palace, Marble palace, Michael's Castle etc.

Concerts are being conducted throughout the whole year. So follow the program and let yourself dive into this endless luxury of pure enjoyment - amazing timeless music in wonderful palace interiors and royal parks surroundings.
